The Swiss fine watchmaking manufactory Jaeger-LeCoultre, along with its official agent Simonetta Orsini and the Palacio Duhau-Park Hyatt Buenos Aires will be joining forces on Tuesday 2 December for a gala where polo players will be the guests of honor, to raise funds for Nuestra Señora del Pilar Children’s Home. For the second consecutive year, Jaeger-LeCoultre is organising this charity gala where the brand will donate 50 dollars for each handicap goal reached by the polo players attending. Last year this raised $24,750, with a total $76,750 raised from the whole event.
This year Palacio Duhau-Park Hyatt Buenos Aires will also be collaborating with Jaeger-Coultre in hosting this Grand Polo Gala. Now celebrating its 175th anniversary, the Manufactory Jaeger-LeCoultre has had ties with polo for over 75 years. The Reverso collection was created in 1931 at the request of a group of British polo players resident in India, who needed a watch that could stand up to the blows of the sport. The firm created this watch, whose revolving case prevents the glass from breaking.
The brand also has close ties with some of the best players in the world. The Argentinian polo players Adolfo Cambiaso, Eduardo Novillo Astrada, Juan Martín Nero and Lía Salvo are Jaeger-LeCoultre ambassadors, representing the brand worldwide.
The Nuestra Señora del Pilar Children’s Home is located in the town of Capitán Sarmiento, Province of Buenos Aires. For the last five years it has been home to homeless children who had been abandoned or abused. The 31 children who live there today are there as a result of rulings by San Nicolás magistrates. The children go to school, play football and hockey, and take part in various artistic activities. The home also offers workshops in computing, building, gardening and cooking, not only for the children who live in the home but also for teenagers and families from the local community.
